With the new Tariffs coming into effect on August 29, 2025, implemented by the Trump Administration, we would like to make clear a few things to help with our American clients looking to order from us online.
As of August 26, Australia Post is temporarily suspending parcel delivery to the United States due to these recently introduced changes.
HOWEVER, as Opals Down Under ships via International Express (carried via the EMS network), our orders will still be going out.
UPDATE (AUGUST 28) – we have now been notified that Australia Post has suspended ALL services to the USA (including International Express). We can send out via DHL International Courier (for an extra AU$200 fee). We have not been provided an ETA on when normal services resume as yet, but will monitor the situation as it changes.
UPDATE (SEPTEMBER 26) – we are now shipping to the United States, with Australia Post resuming deliveries. We send out via Insured Express International Airmail (via EMS), or DHL International Courier (for an extra AU$200 fee).
In regards to the ruling for the US IEEPA Reciprocal Tariffs, they need to be charged PRIOR to the parcel arriving into the US. So if you are purchasing an item on our online store from the US, you will see a 10% tax added at checkout to cover the tariff (though the tariffs vary from 10% to 15.5% depending on the item purchased – we have decided to use a blanket 10% tax).
If you have any questions regarding placing an order with Opals Down Under to go to the United States, please reach out to us via [email protected], our contact form, or use the pop-up text service/chat service (please note this is operated between Monday and Friday, 9am to 5pm AEST).
