For over a decade we had a big, bright lightbox street sign lighting the way at the beginning of Ballantyne Court (we’re #11, so towards the other end of the cul-de-sac). It was a subtle form of advertising, but more so, it directed traffic to us.
Sadly, the Sunshine Coast Council recently decided that these lightboxes (there were roughly 20 scattered over the Coast area) were an ‘eyesore’ and commissioned for them to be removed, much to ours and others’ protests.
The really disappointing part is that once that lightbox sign was removed (only in the past week) it wasn’t replaced with an actual street sign to say that it is, indeed, Ballantyne Court.
Frustrating, and poorly-executed.
We have contacted the Council (to be fair, they were helpful in hearing our plea), so, while we wait for a replacement sign, here’s how you get to us –
Coming from the South (from Brisbane/Caloundra etc), take the Aussie World off ramp (just as you see our rather large billboard), and take the first turn left on to Glenview Road. You’ll quickly pass the Saddlery and just as you see Glenview Gardens (again on your left), BALLANTYNE COURT is that road on the left. Follow it down until you see our dark blue entrance with Opals Down Under signage.
Coming from the North, take the Aussie World offramp on to Pignata Road, and turn RIGHT to go under the highway, then TURN LEFT unto Frizzo Road (if you go straight, you’ll be in the Aussie World precinct). Follow Frizzo Road south, which will eventually cross over that north-bound offramp, and onto Glenview Road. Then you take the next turn left, just after Glenview Gardens onto BALLANTYNE COURT.
Also keep an eye out for the yellow Skin Thing sign on the corner of Glenview and Ballantyne (as they are two blocks down from us).
Hopefully this helps while we have the street signage situation rectified.
