*Please note – Returns Policy only applicable to Stock Jewellery and (unmodified) Unset Stones. Custom-made jewellery and Unset Opals cut for custom orders cannot be refunded.

Free global delivery (for orders over AUD $300)
That’s right, free. If you spend over AUD $300 excluding tax (AUD$330 inc GST) we’ll send your order completely free of charge. Our opals are delivered promptly to anywhere in the world, and fully insured. (This charge is not ‘built in’ to our prices, either.)
Orders under AUD $300 ex. GST (AUD$330 inc GST) will incur a delivery charge of AUD $16.50 inc GST ( orders within Australia), or AUD$30 ex GST for orders outside of Australia.
Italy, Indonesia and South Africa require all parcels to be sent via DHL Courier which is a charge of AUD $220. We do not ship to these countries through any other postal service.

Certificates of authenticity
Included with each opal purchase is a signed certificate of authenticity. This document includes a photo and detailed analysis of your stone with in-depth classification details. This certificate is excellent to keep for your records, and also very good for insurance purposes.
Opals Down Under are members of the Jewellery Association of Australia (JAA). JAA membership is granted to select specialists who undergo strict compliance tests and are established in the jewellery or gem industry.
We do also offer in person valuation services (please book ahead, and this service is only available Monday- Thursday). If you are only wanting an over-the-counter estimation, we do offer this service free of charge. However, for fully certified valuations (including a valuation certificate), we do charge AUD $120.00 per valued item for this service, and can take anywhere between 45 minutes to an hour to complete.
Secure credit card processing
Internet transactions are conducted via a digitally signed, Secure SSL Server. Your credit card details are kept highly secure and are not transmitted via email. The page which collects your credit card details is high-grade encrypted before being sent over the internet. This encryption makes it extremely difficult for unauthorised people to view information transferred across the internet.
Other methods of payment
Not only do we accept credit card payments (via a digitally signed, Secure SSL Server), but we also accept PayPal transactions, Direct Bank Transfer (Australia Only), and now, Afterpay.
Free opal polish and jewellery clean
We’ve got the equipment and expertise to keep your opal jewellery looking great, so why not take advantage of it? If you buy an opal from us, we’ll give it a clean and polish the next time you visit. Free of charge.
Alternatively, if you have an opal ring or opal pendant, and want to bring it back to life, we do offer a polishing service from $45 (price can vary depending on the difficulty of the item).
Value for money
We source and cut rough opal directly from the Australian opal mines, so you’ll save money. There is no middle-man, so we pass the savings on to you. Our prices are not over-inflated tourist prices, they are genuine value for money. We own our premises and workshop so we are not paying millions of dollars in rent for a high-class exclusive tourist location.
Ring sizing and prices
Our rings listed online will show a variation on prices*, with the lowest price representing the current size of the ring, and each increase in price reflects each increase in size (with a maximum size allowance of 5 (UK/Australian) sizes up OR down).
Ring resizing can take up to 7 business days to complete due to our jeweller’s workload.

*Excluding our range of lower-valued Sterling Silver rings which are already available in 4 different sizes – L, N, P and R and some styles size U. These rings cannot be resized beyond the sizes available, and there will be no variation in prices for these rings.
