Charis opal pendantThe exquisite Charis Opal Pendant, created by Opals Down Under, has been sold for an undisclosed amount, with proceeds dedicated to Australian charity Family Challenge for the rehabilitation of war affected children in Northern Uganda.

Mr & Mrs Reardon-Small of Sydney purchased the beautiful Charis Opal Pendant (for a five figure amount) on May 13th, with the net proceeds from the sale of the pendant going to Family Challenge, who are involved in rehabilitating traumatised war children in several countries, including Africa.

The pendant features a 9.10 carat Queensland Boulder Opal, 108 diamonds (totalling 1.75 carats) and all set into a 18k White and Yellow Gold setting, with a 18k White Gold chain.

Scott Coggan, manager of Opals Down Under, said that that the Reardon-Small's did not want to comment directly, but were very happy with their purchase and loved the fact that the net proceeds of the sale were going to a fantastic cause.

Family Challenge presentation"They (the Reardon-Smalls) wanted to keep a relatively low-profile, but were ecstatic about the purchase, and happy to add such a magnificent piece to their opal jewellery collection," he said.

"But the real winners are the formerly abducted child soldiers and sex-slaves on the frontline who are currently undergoing rehabilitation therapy with Family Challenge".

Founding Director of Family Challenge, Dr Robi Sonderegger welcomed Opals Down Under's generous donation, saying that it was fantastic news for the kids on the frontline.

"100% of this donation will go directly to helping the seemingly invisible children in Africa whose lives have been so greatly affected," he said.
